Monster Island, The Asylum’s 2019 mockbuster, was released ironically around the same period as Godzilla: King of the Monsters. It is about an island called Monster Island; there may be a monster. The monster is, if I am not mistaken, the island itself.


This film is (now updated) about an asylum and has a budget similar to a large child's meal. It uses it lightly and focuses on a few human characters. All of the major stars' sequences are filmed in one location during lunch. The Asylum is not a bad movie, but let's not forget it's a kaiju flick.
